
Once known as the Dicky Bow Tie club, Cumberland Social Circle continues to provide top sport to some of West Cumbria’s top fanciers.
The club presentation night in Flimby club reflected that with outstanding lofts to the fore, on what proved to be an excellent function.
Steven Allen of Gretna was the guest of honour and he presented the trophies with 14 members taking home some silverware.
Top of the list with eight trophies, including the Most Points Cup (16) were the successful Workington Victoria loft of Richard Martindale and George ‘Pal’ Lawman.
Husband and wife Ian and Denise Wood of Harrington Central were second with 11 points and six trophies, including the Ectona Fibres Big Cup for Combined average.
The Derwent Valley Federation’s Big Cup was won this season by the Flimby Homing Society loft of Jimmy Nelson and Fleck Crellin and they had seven points with five trophies, including the Billy Nicholson Memorial Trophy.
Following on were Andrew Berwick and Kenneth Watson with seven points and three trophies, including the Ernie McCance Trophy.
The other winners were: Morris and Wayne McLuckie, 6 points and four trophies (Breeders Exchange Trophy); Mr and Mrs David Wood and son, 4 points and three trophies (Tony Ennis Memorial Trophy) as well as the YB Coronation Medallion; John Devlin, 4 points and two trophies (John Gale Trophy and RPRA Medallion); Williams and Hadfield, 3 points (Eric Edwards Trophy and RPRA Medallion); Alan Graham and co, 3 points and Jubilee Trophy; Mr and Mrs W. Carter and sons, 3 points (Gordon Jenkinson Memorial Trophy); Richard Hodgson, 3 points and D. Pattinson Memorial Trophy; Andrew Kenmare and son, 2 points, President’s Trophy; Rushforth and Hunter, 2 points and B. Smith Cup; Blacklock and sons, 1 point, Carlisle Glass Cup.
