Cleator Moor Celtic boss Stuart Shaw has been reflecting on a 4-0 defeat at Fulwood Amateurs in the West Lancashire League.
He said: “I was disappointed for my players as for 78 minutes we were well and truly in the game and played some good football at times.
“But the quality in the final third of the pitch needs to be more composed and a lot better. Decision-making is key, especially in vital times of the game.
“We were 1-0 down to a very dubious goal which then saw us always fighting for something and everything but decision went against us.
“It was a frustrating afternoon and once they got their second goal from the best player on the field for Fulwood it just knocked the stuffing right out of my players.
“But conceding three goals in 12 minutes near the end simply isn’t acceptable.
“We can dust ourselves down and train well ahead of our trip to Poulton on Saturday.”
Noah Hindley had put Fulwood ahead after 37 minutes and it stayed that way until the 74th minute when the player Shaw referred to as Fulwood’s best – Spencer Lucas – scored twice in the space of six minutes.
Leyton Kirnon added to Celtic’s woe with the fourth Fulwood goal four minutes from time.
Celtic are eighth in the table ahead of Saturday’s clash with Poulton who are four places and four points behind them.
*West Cumbrian neighbours Whitehaven are 13th after they lost 1-0 at home to Rossendale. Tom Hulme scored the only goal after 32 minutes.
Whitehaven might ask for notes from Celtic ahead of Saturday as they travel to Fulwood who are up to fourth in the table.
