Avanti West Coast has announced it is set to host a Christmas Fayre in Carlisle’s train station.
The train provider is organising the event in a bid to raise money for local charities including Eden Valley Hospice and their children’s hospice, Jigsaw.
It is set to take place on Saturday December 9 between 9am and 3.30pm and will feature dozens of independent business stalls, Christmas activities for children and a Santa’s grotto.
Christmas carols will also be performed by the hospice choir throughout the day.
The fayre marks the first big fundraising event the Avanti West Coast team have arranged to support Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw.
It follows the installation of a charity bookshelf near platform three in Carlisle, where people can donate to the hospice and get a book in return.
Michael Byrne, Avanti West Coast station manager at Carlisle, said: “The team are really proud to be hosting a Christmas Fayre that supports local businesses and will bring some joy to people of all ages in the run up to the festive period, as we want to make a positive difference to the community.
“This unique event is wrapped up in the Christmas spirit and we hope it offers everyone the chance to show their appreciation for local causes that hold a special place in their hearts.
“We look forward to welcoming people to the station for some festive fun while raising vital funds to support the important work of Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw.”
