Holders Penrith and beaten finalists Upper Eden are set for another head-to-head in the Cumbria County Cup.

Upper Eden have been handed home advantage in the semi-final against their neighbours.

Carlisle will be at home in the other semi-final against Aspatria.

The draw was made at the recent Cumbria RU Board meeting and the ties have to be played on or before February 24 next year.

Penrith beat Upper Eden 38-5 in the final at Kendal as they completed a fine double – winning both their League title and the County Cup.

Consolation for Upper Eden, in an excellent season, was again winning the Counties 1 Cumbria title.

Carlisle have started the 2023/24 season in good form, leading the Counties 1 Cumbria table after the disappointment of last season’s relegation.

They will relish the opportunity to meet visitors from a higher level with Aspatria making the short trip to Warwick Road.

The Black Reds have also started well in Regional 2 North and currently lie fourth in the table.
