A West Cumbrian football match raised over £760 for the children’s ward at the local hospital.
Tubby FC, based in Mirehouse, Whitehaven, took on international doctors and staff from the West Cumberland Hospital at St Benedict’s RUFC last month.
The match, and fundraising at Tubby FC’s Christmas party netted the children’s ward £767.92.
The game ended 6-5 to Tubby FC.

The doctors and staff set up their team to help with mental health and Tubby FC donated a kit to them that had been given to them in their early days.
Mirehouse Tubbies Football Club – Tubby FC – was founded in June 2021 following an original idea from Niah Vaughan.
It was to form a football team for a group of men who are either of a certain BMI and/or are suffering with mental health issues.
