A Carlisle man accused of stabbing a woman in the arm and unlawfully threatening her with a knife will stand trial in front of a jury later this year.
Two charges have been laid against Connor Hadwin, 31, who appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today.
One charge alleges that Hadwin unlawfully and maliciously wounded the woman, with intent to do so.
A second charge alleges that Hadwin threatened the same woman with a knife inside an address in the Garlands area of the city, the allegation being that there was an imminent risk of physical harm to the woman at that time.
During the short hearing in front of Judge Nicholas Barker, Hadwin pleaded not guilty to both of the charges which arise out of alleged incidents on November 25 last year.
He appeared remotely over a video link, and is now due to face a trial by jury. This is due to start in the week of May 20 and, it is estimated, will last two to three days.
In the meantime Hadwin, of Rashdall Road, Carlisle, remains remanded in custody.
