
The Cumberland County League returned after the Christmas break with all clubs hoping to kick off 2024 positively.
In the Premier Division, Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves went second in the league and level on points with Unisun Athletic after beating the Carlisle based outfit 2-1.
Goals from James Bell and Harley Cueto helped Celtic to their first win in 2024. Josh Morley was Unisun’s goals scorer.
Meanwhile, Maryport Athletic were 4-1 winners against Workington Reserves. Calum Casson bagged himself two goals while Ashtyn Skillen and Cam Harker also found the back of the net for Maryport. Tyler Harrell grabbed the Reds goal.
Louie Elliot (2), Harvey Harrison and John Hayes helped Wigton Harriers to their first league win of the season as they beat Gosforth 4-0.

The match between Whitehaven Miners Social and Aspatria was postponed due to a unplayable pitch.
In Division One, Cockermouth continued their fine run of form after they beat Whitehaven Miners Social Development 5-0 with Kyran Bertram bagging a hat-trick while Kane Tinnion and Luke Graham also found the back of the net.
Also flying in the league are Whitehaven AFC Reserves who beat Silloth 6-0 with Liam King (2), Joe Martin (2), Tom Martin and Nathan Campbell all scoring.

The third team chasing the title are Keswick. They travelled to Dearham United and came away with a 2-0 win with Dec Robinson and Matt Rankin both on target for Keswick.
Bransty Rangers v Windscale Reserves was called off after the pitch was deemed unplayable.
