It was another defeat for Cleator Moor Celtic in the West Lancashire League – but manager Stuart Shaw was a bit happier with the performance.
Shaw hadn’t minced words after a 3-1 defeat at Hurst Green a week ago but had more praise for his team after they lost 1-0 at home to Fulwood.
He said: “I was gutted for my players because it was certainly a good battle by both teams and it was a question of who wanted it more.
“Fulwood started the better of the teams before we got on top going into half-time. We felt it was always going to be a 1-0 game to either team and credit to our lads, especially the back line who were outstanding.

“I would go as far as to say the most solid we have been all season across all four positions.
“We can battle and battle with teams but it’s the other side we need to be so much better with the ball and believe in each others quality.
“In the final third of the field I thought we were extremely poor and that’s happened two weeks in a row now. It’s crazy how football works sometimes, especially how this game was eventually won.
“Their goal scorer was a very lucky boy to be still on field after what happened halfway through the first half and then the lad goes on to score the winner.

“Credit to Fulwood battling away as much as we did, and their coaching staff, who I have a lot of time for, are genuine footballing men and I wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”
Aaron Hewitt was the player in question and he popped up to score what was the winner in the 77th minute.
Celtic are back at the home at the Travis Perkins Ground on Saturday when they entertain Blackpool Wren Rovers.
