Carlisle Cougars backed by major city firm

Mark Ebdon of Pladis is the guy getting the lift from the Cougars

Carlisle Cougars have had a major boost with a £4,000 donation.

The cash, from Pladis, means the firm will be the front-of-shirt sponsors for the women’s rugby team next season after previously donating extra funds to help with the team’s training kit and training equipment.

A spokeswoman for the women’s team said: “This donation has enabled the Cougars to have their own kit, instead of sharing kits with the men.

“Mark Ebdon at Pladis has been instrumental in recognising how important it is to support women’s rugby, provide visibility, opportunity and general awareness for the sport too.

“The Cougars want to say a huge thank you to Mark and the rest of the Pladis team for choosing to support us.

“If any other local businesses are interested in supporting us, we still have sponsorship spots available on our kit for next season and we’d love to build some new partnerships with Carlisle’s companies who want to lead the way by helping women’s sport.”
