For the second home game in a row Workington established a 2-0 lead before having to settle for a point.
Two goals from Dav Symington had given him 20 for the season – and also his side a handy 2-0 half-time lead against a side unbeaten away from home.
He had also hit a post and had another effort well saved by Rylands keeper Luke Pilling in a splendid first half performance by a youthful Workington side.
But Rylands showed why they are second in the table and unbeaten on their travels by scoring twice in the second half to take home a point.
Despite poor conditions of wind and rain the two sides both deserved credit for putting on an entertaining contest.
Workington manager Danny Grainger felt his side had deserved to win the game.
“We had two kicked off the line and also hit the post, and I thought in difficult conditions we were the better side.

“It was a young side and they all did exceptionally well and that has to be encouraging.
“If we can stay clear of injuries and put together a good second-half of the season who knows where we might finish,” he said.
Symington’s opener on 19 minutes followed a lovely sweeping move down the left by Workington’s two teenage loanees Sam Hetherington (Carlisle) and Kitt Nelson (Preston).
Symington was on the end of the final ball and from just inside the box fired past Pilling.

His second on 28 minutes needed no assistance. It was just sheer power with a 30 yarder which screamed past Pilling just under the bar.
The visitors intent was clear after the break and within 20 seconds had hit the bar through Momodou Touray.
It was Touray who headed in Rylands’ first goal on 54 minutes after the ball had been returned to the home box after the initial clearance was soon recycled.
A clearance from home keeper Jim Atkinson was intercepted for the second goal and when Reds couldn’t get the follow-up ball clear skipper Jame Neild drove home the equaliser.

Workington could still have won it, however, with a Symington back heel and a Scott Allison effort both cleared off the line.
Reds have another home game to look forward to next Saturday when they entertain Whitby Town.
