
A large sinkhole has appeared in the middle of a West Cumbrian road.
Drivers are asked to avoid the stretch of road between Lamplugh and Kirkland for the time being.
The sinkhole has appeared at a place known as Bairds Crossing on the A5086 and highways engineers will be attending to assess the damage and how it can be fixed.
Diversions are in place to access Kirkland village and beyond and drivers are asked to use the Inglenook Caravan/Felldyke road to access Kirkland village and Ennerdale area.
