The first Cup final of the season in the West Cumberland Sunday League is staged tonight.

The new League, only started for the 2023/24 season, is staging the President’s Cup final at Borough Park, Workington (ko 7pm).

Northside, who have made a habit of snaffling the trophies on offer in the old Workington Sunday League will start favourites.

But FC Cosmos are dangerous opponents who can be very good on their day.

But they have picked-up injuries, which probably explains why they beat Premier Division leaders Parkside 3-0 and then lost 6-1 to Dearham in the County Cup.

Neither side were in action at the weekend as Northside’s County Cup game with Sun Inn was postponed for a second time and FC Cosmos had a free Sunday.

At the week-end there were three games in Division One and they produced 23 goals between them.

Least productive of them all was the game in which King’s Arms beat a disappointing Salterbeck 6-1.

Kieran Fraser (3), Coady Scott, Bobby Fitzpatrick and Jordan Baird scored for the winners with Dave Watson responding for Salterbeck.

There were eight goals apiece in the other two with Senhouse Street beating Flimby 6-2 while Butcher’s defeated Royal Oak 5-3.

Gary O’Driscoll scored a hat-trick for Senhouse who also had goals from Steve Hampton, Nick Wood and Terry Wharrier.

Scott Underwood and Apirak Reuangprat replied for Flimby.

Butcher’s had goals from Callum Foy (2), Cameron Carter, Joe Porter and Tom Bethwaite in their win over the Oak, who replied through Carl Lofthouse, Connor Buck and Luke Youdale.

The three League Cup games played on Sunday were at different tiers.

In Tier One Lowca proved too strong for Dearham and won handily 5-0 with goals by Kian Goulding (2), Shane Tyson, Travis Fyfe and Macauley Woodburn.

Tier Two saw a 4-0 win for Deer Orchard at Thornhill with Luke Graham notching a hat-trick and Danny Moffatt adding the fourth.

The Tier Three saw The Sun win 3-1 against The Swan with goals from Martyn Rossi, Hayden Whittingham and Luke Thompson. Cameron Quayle netted for the Swan.

Fixtures for this Sunday are as follows – County Cup – Northside v Sun Inn.

Albert Murphy Trophy semi-final – Dearham v Flimby.

Kenny Hales Cup semi-final – FC Cosmos v Parkside.

League Cup Third Tier – Seaton Rangers v The Sun.

Premier Division – Thornhill v Deer Orchard; Bluebell v Lowca.
