Plans to build 111 new homes in Ulverston have been revealed.
Story Homes has submitted proposals to Westmorland and Furness Council to build the development on land at West End Farm.
It includes 38 affordable homes – eight one-bedroom apartments, 19 two-bedroom properties and 11 three-bedroom properties.
The proposed eight one-bedroom apartments and 12 of the two-bedroom properties will be available for affordable rent whereas the other affordable properties will be available for intermediate ownership.
The proposals also involve the construction of 12 three-bedroom houses, 46 four-bedroom houses, eight five-bedroom houses and seven six-bedroom properties, all of which will be available on the open market.
The application said: “The proposed development provides an opportunity for high quality family homes to be built within Ulverston, which is a sustainable location supported by existing connectivity and transport routes, services and amenities and employment opportunities.
“The site will be developed in a way that creates a natural and logical extension to the existing built form and urban grain and in accordance with the site-specific requirements of the residential allocation.
The site is next to Ulverston Leisure Centre.
The application added: “There are numerous socio-economic and environmental benefits arising from the proposed development, including the provision of new high quality affordable housing as well as job creation and investment in the local area.
“It is clear that the proposals represent sustainable development which will make a positive difference, creating an appealing community which respects its context and caters for identified housing needs.”
It is proposed the main vehicular access to the site is off Priory Road to the northern end of the frontage. This entrance creates a gateway to the site which is staggered to ensure access is not taken immediately opposite the entrance to the cemetery.
The application is now under public consultation.
