Two former pupils of Cockermouth Grammar School are organising a reunion for their year.
George Bell and John Walsh both started in 1957 and were there to 1964/1963 respectively and are looking for former classmates and friends from the other intake classes.
George said: “I am still in touch with one or two so can alert them pretty quickly. It might be a bit harder to contact those who have moved away.
“I suppose that will be even harder for the girls who have married and have different surnames now.”
John added: “It’s something I have thought about for a while now and if we don’t hurry up and organises, it will be too late!
“Like George I do know the whereabouts of a few but look forward to tracking down others.
“Back in 1957 about 90 of us would start the Grammar School and to meet up again with a third to a half would be brilliant.”
The reunion is going to be held on Saturday, April 27 at the Trout Hotel in Cockermouth.
It is also planned to organise entertainment at the Trout, a trip to Keswick and a Sunday lunch en-route to make it a weekend event rather than just a one-night get-together.
“It’s been a long time so we want to make it as enjoyable as possible, especially for those who haven’t been here for years and will have travelled distances for the reunion,” said John.
“I think it has all the makings of being a great week-end – and it’s possible we might be able to involve on of our old teachers,” added George.
Anyone who is able to attend should contact George on georgebell27@icloud.com or John on topdion63@gmail.com.
Special rates will be available to stay for one or two nights at the Trout for those travelling from away.
