Top scorer Dav Symington earned Workington Reds a point at Lancaster City in a 1-1 draw.
But it could have been three as the Reds had three goals disallowed for offside, and at least one of them looked well onside.
Manager Danny Grainger said: “It’s frustrating because I thought we were the better side and deserved to win the game.
“Apart from the disallowed goals their keeper made two outstanding saves in time added on, and I couldn’t fault anyone in our side.
“I think it was just down to a bit of luck in several areas. We made a defensive mistake which gave them their goal.
“Then when their keeper did make a mistake, dropping a cross, it just bounced the wrong side of the post.
“Overall, after our disappointing result last week, I can’t be disappointed because I was happy with the team performance.”
Jordan Little and Stephen Rigg were the players denied in stoppage time when Reds really went for the win.
Keeper Andre Mendes turned Little’s shot round the post and then leapt acrobatically to claw away Rigg’s effort heading for the top corner.
Lancaster had taken the lead on 28 minutes when Greg McCaragher got in a mix-up and presented the ball to Dominic Lawson who fired past Jim Atkinson.
Scott Allison (twice) and Symington had goals disallowed for offside before Reds finally got one that counted.
A ball looped over the home defence on 83 minutes and Symington, although forced wide, hammered a shot past Mendes for the equaliser.
There only looked like one side was going to win it after that but Reds couldn’t turn their pressure into goals and had to settle for their 11th NPL draw of the season.
Next up for the west Cumbrians is a home game on Saturday against Matlock Town who are level on points with them in the table, but from three fewer games.
By next Saturday they should know their opponents in the Fred Conway County Cup semi-final.
It will be either Windscale from the Wearside League or Maryport Athletic of the County League who meet at the Falcon Complex on Wednesday night.
