Barrow slipped to a third successive defeat when they went down 5-3 at Salford City.
By contrast the home side were stretching their unbeaten run to eight games.
Barrow boss Peter Wild said: “It’s a long season and you are going to get these kind of runs during it. I do feel there are plenty of positives to take from the performance despite the defeat.”
Salford are on their best run for almost two years and they went in front on 26 minutes when Callum Hendry scored a spectacular opener, firing a bouncing ball into the far corner of Paul Farman’s net.
Barrow hit back just before half-time when recent signing Cole Stockton continued his good run of scoring form when he curled a lovely effort beyond home keeper Alex Cairns.
Early in the second-half Tyrell Warren headed Barrow in front when he got up well to get on the end of a Robbie Gotts corner.
But three goals inside the next 20 minutes turned the game in Salford’s favour.
On 57 minutes Conor McAleny pulled the hosts level and then ten minutes later Hendry bagged his second from a deflected shot.
Matt Smith then notched a quick double in the 77th and 86th minutes – goals which took him to 21 for the season.
Stockton pulled one back in the 90th minute and should have completed a hat-trick in stoppage time which would have made it interesting.
But he missed out; Barrow slipped to defeat and are now down to sixth although still well in the play-off places.
