Workington Town will include eight former Whitehaven players in their squad for the first West Cumbrian derby of the season tomorrow.
The two local rivals collide in the final group game of the 1895 Cup and although Barrow have already won after beating both their county rivals, there’s no such thing as a dead rubber when these two meet.
Although both coaches have made it clear they are focused on their respective League programmes – Whitehaven in the Championship and Town in League One – that doesn’t mean there will be any taking it easy in this one.
It’s the first of two successive games for both against each other as they square up again in a fortnight, again at the Fibrus Community Stadium on March 3.
The second meeting is the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy game which was postponed last month.
Tickets bought for the original game will be valid for the March 3 restaging but not for tomorrow’s 1895 Cup contest.
Town coach Anthony Murray has had a few injury issues already in pre-season and will be making a late final choice.
His 21 for the game are: Blain Marwood, Carl Forber, Chris Taylor, Ciaran Walker, Connor Saunders, Dave Ecclestone, Ethan Bickerdike, Grant Reid, Jake Bradley, Jarrod Sammut, Jason Mossop, JJ Key, Jonny Hutton, Jordan Burns, Jordan Thomson, Luke Charlton, Mal Steele, Matty Henson, Sean Croston, Stevie Scholey, Tyler Walton.
The kick-off is 3pm.
