Plans to suspend birth services at a Cumbrian hospital have been postponed.
Kendal’s Westmorland General Hospital was set to suspend the service at its maternity unit for four weeks from 5pm tomorrow, Friday February 23, due to essential maintenance work on the nearby theatres.
However, that work has been cancelled, due to reasons outside of the hospital’s control.
Birth services at the hospital will remain open as usual.
The planned work will now take place next month. Birth services will be suspended at Helme Chase from 5pm on Friday March 8 for four weeks.
Community midwife appointments and the home birth service are unaffected.
