Danny Grainger insists there will be no let-up in the search for points even though he is leaving Workington Reds at the end of the season.
He guided Reds to promotion last season and the club are all but safe for another year in the NPL Premier Division.
But with nine games left to play, and 27 points at stake, Grainger wants to finish on a high and leave the club in the top half of the table.
Tomorrow’s trip to FC United of Manchester is the first of four against sides below them in the table.
For while Reds are 14th on 38 points, hosts FC United are 17th with 33 points, but do have two games in hand of the Cumbrians.
Still to come are Gainsborough Trinity (a), March 23 who are 15th, level on points with Reds from two less games; Stafford Rangers (a), March 30 who are 20th with 21 points and one fewer game and Atherton Collieries (h), Easter Monday, April 1 who are 21st and bottom with 19 points from three less games.
After that Res finish with four games against leading clubs – Worksop (a), lying 6th on April 6th; Marine (h), currently 2nd on April 13; Macclesfield (a), now 5th on April 20 and finish at home to Guiseley, who are 7th on April 27.
Grainger will relish seeing Reds mathematically safe this month ahead of a big finish against some of the best teams in the competition.
For the moment though the focus is on FC United with Grainger hoping Bobby Carroll and Conor Tinnion will be back in contention.
