Barrow midfielder Dean Campbell is being linked with a summer move to Oxford United after just a season at Holker Street.
The 22-year-old joined the Bluebirds on a two-year deal in the summer from Amerdeen and has impressed in helping them into the play-off places.
It is not his first taste of football in the EFL as last season he was on loan at Stevenage and helped Steve Evans’ side win promotion to League One.
He has been a virtual ever-present with Pete Wild’s Barrow, settling in quickly and has scored three goals in 34 League Two appearances.
Football Scotland is reporting that representatives of Campbell are in talks with Oxford United about a summer switch, although that would mean a transfer fee for Barrow.
Oxford might be playing Championship football next season as they have an outside shout of promotion via the playoffs, currently sitting seventh in League One.
Campbell came through the Dons academy and broke through to make his first-team debut under Derek McInnes in the 2016-17 season, playing against Celtic aged just 16.
He featured sporadically over six seasons, scoring four goals in the 2019-20 campaign and three the following.
A half-season loan at Kilmarnock, then in the Championship, followed to try and secure more first-team football and then came the spell at Stevenage the next year.
The Scotland under-19 cap scored a dramatic late winner as the then-League Two side knocked Premier League Aston Villa out of the FA Cup last season.
