Over 100 students from secondary schools across West Cumbria went head-to-head in a technology tournament.
The youngsters spent the day at Energy Coast UTC, at Lillyhall, near Workington, and had to build a lighthouse with a flashing light.
There were three levels of competition – foundation, intermediate and advanced.
Organised by Workington Rotary, the event was sponsored by BAE Systems and the pupils’ efforts were judged by people from industry.
Judges said the enthusiasm, ability and determination of all teams was the best they had seen.
Deputy Lord Lieutenant Pete Woolaghan spent time talking to the teams and presented the prizes to the winning teams at the end of the day and Workington MP Mark Jenkinson also attended and spent time talking to the teams.
The winning teams were:
- Best Portfolio of the day: Keswick School
- Foundation Challenge: Keswick School
- Intermediate Challenge: Energy Coast UTC
- Advanced Challenge: Keswick School
