
Eight fire crews have tackled a blaze at a battery recycling plant in Workington.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service were called to Isabella Road, behind Workington marina, to the fire at Recycling Lives today, March 19 at around 2.50pm.
Recycling Lives operates a processing centre for battery recycling plant and the fire involved lithium batteries in a 25sq m building on the site.
The fire service asked people to avoid the area and advised those living in the area to keep doors and windows closed.
Eight fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, a water bowser and a command unit attended.
Crews used four breathing apparatus, an air foam system, a main jet and a medium expansion foam to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters remain on the scene.
