Greggs forced to close due to IT issues – but stores now reopen

Greggs stores across Cumbria were forced to close their doors earlier today due to an IT issue – but have now reopened.

The bakery chain had to take action after some of its stores had issues accepting payments.

Customers found branches of the bakery chain closed or cash only.

There were card payment outages at Sainsbury’s and Tesco on Saturday, and McDonald’s last Friday across the UK.

Greggs told the BBC a technical issue had affected tills in some shops but said the majority of shops affected were now able to take card and cash payments again.
