Work to demolish Carlisle’s Pool will begin next week.
Cumberland Council said contractors will move in on Monday, March 25, to the James Street site and work is expected to take around six weeks, weather permitting.
The demolition is a key next step in the delivery of the Carlisle Station Gateway Project and will open the area of the rear of the station making way for a new public square and car park.

The demolition of The Pools will not impact the Turkish Baths, the authority said.
It added it was was actively collaborating with The Friends of the Turkish Baths to ensure positive outcomes for the building.

James Street will remain open for traffic during the work but the pavements next to The Pools are closed and will remain closed throughout the work for safety.
