
It was another goal feast in the Cumberland County League with mostly cup games and one league fixture being played.
In the Whitehaven Cup round two, Premier Division outfit Whitehaven Miners Social beat Dearham United of Division One 8-1 with goals from Lewis Park (5), Hadley Davies, Bradley O’Pray and Oliver Todd. Kyle Adlard hit the back of the net for Dearham.
In another Premier Division v Division One tie, Aspatria got past underdogs Mirehouse with a 4-0 victory. Malcolm Graham scored twice with the other two goals coming from Jack Coyne and Andrew Trestianu.
In the third Whitehaven Cup fixture of the day, a Carl Lightfoot goal gave Wigton a 1-0 win against Unisun Athletic in this all-Premier Division meeting.
In the Ken Glover Memorial Cup, Maryport Athletic beat Gosforth 6-1 with Ethan Weir, Ellis Short, Attlee Skillen, Ciaran Booty, Darren Rule and Cameron Moir all on the scoresheet for Maryport. Rhys Singleton grabbed Gosforth’s goal.
They were some Divisional Cup Action too. In Group A, a Luke Graham hat-trick and a goal from Kane Tinnion helped Cockermouth to a 4-4 draw against Whitehaven AFC Reserves with their goals coming from Shane Tyson (2), Ben Powell and Shaun Carter.
The other Group A fixture also ended in a draw after Keswick versus Workington Reds Development finished 2-2. Callum West and Bradley Fearns scored Keswick’s goals while Chad Grisdale notched a brace for Reds.
In the Divisional Cup Group B, doubles from Bobby Fitzpatrick and Owen Bell helped Windscale Reserves edge past Silloth 4-3. Lee Coulthard and a brace from Jackson Slack were the Silloth goal-scorers.
It wasn’t all cup games being played as Bransty Rangers and Whitehaven Miners Social Development met in a Division One fixture. Miners won 6-1 with goals from Braydon Walmsley (3), Corey Braggs, Sean Rickerby as well as one from the opposition. Stewart O’Pray was on target for Bransty.
