The fight at the top of Division One between Qzone and Inter Qzone took centre stage in the latest Carlisle Snooker League action.
Both teams have been the most consistent this season and whoever won, would go a long way to securing the league title.
In the opening frame Paul Wright (Qzone) played Mike Nixon (Inter) and it was a close one with neither player willing to take risks. The deciding factor was a 38 break from Mike, which saw him stretch away to win 59-35.
Frame two was between Giles Finegan (Qzone) and Mike Griffiths (Inter). This one followed a similar pattern to the first, being very tight and Mike just had enough to get over the line 59-50.
Frame three saw Ian Pattinson beat Ryan Ridding to get the first point on the board for Qzone when he won their match 55-37.
Frame four between Chris Forrester and Michael Waring was a high scoring affair with both players potting high value colours with reds, but without going on to score the big breaks.
Chris potted the final few colours to win the frame 64-47 to level the match score at 2-2.
So it was all down to the final frame which was between Andy Simpson (Qzone) and Simon Towns (Inter).
This was Andy’s first league match in a number of years, but you wouldn’t have known it as he potted extremely well from the start.
His confidence was high and he even joked that ‘its all coming back to me now!’

Simon did well to stay close on the scoreboard until the final couple of reds where Andy stretched away to clinch the frame 69-40 and with it the match 3-2. With the bonus point for the home win taking the score to 4-2.

Frame two was a low scoring affair between Ian Cleminson (Maggies) and Peter Day (Cons Club) which Ian won in a black ball game by 37-31.
