Kendal Town are right back in the promotion play-off mix after a decisive home win over top five rivals Chadderton.
It finished 5-0 and with just two game to go the Mintcakes lie fourth in the table and looking to cement their play-off qualification in the last two games at home to Cheadle and away at Burscough.
The victory also included a successful penalty by James Bailey after Kendal had missed their previous six spot kicks!
The strong wind made good football difficult for both sides but Kendal adapted the better and went in front after only ten minutes.
Ryan Winder shot from the edge of the area and it was deflected beyond the former Kendal Town goalkeeper Morgan Bacon.
Bacon was beaten again on 19 minutes, but there was no deflection this time, only a brilliant finish by Steve Yawson after being played in by Bailey.
The third first-half goal came on 34 minutes and was scored by Holden when he was at the far post to steer home a free kick from Winder.
A great fourth goal on 65 minutes finished-off the oppodiotion. Yawson exchanged passes with Bailey before rounding the keeper for his second.
A perfect day was ended in perfect fashion – a successful penalty! A clear handball was spotted by the referee and after so many disappointments from the spot Bailey made no mistake.
Manager Jimmy Marshall said: “Fair play to the lads today. It was a big game for us and we made no mistake. They put their bodies on the line, played good football and scored some great goals.
“That’s three wins on the bounce, we have no injuries and we are looking to get in a good week of training and be ready for Cheadle. We are just looking to keep it going. We have an honest group of lads who are a pleasure to manage and we are looking to finish the season on a high.”
