A new bistro has opened at North Cumbria’s Farlam Hall.
Following the success of receiving a coveted Michelin Star for the hall’s restaurant, The Cedar Tree by Hrishikesh Desai, it has now introduced a new, alternative dining experience, Bistro Enkel.
This new casual dining addition operates as a bistro-style restaurant on the same premises as The Cedar Tree, offering small bites, starters, mains, sides and desserts as an itemised menu, so guests can choose as little or as much as they like.
The restaurant takes its name from the Scandinavian translation of the word ‘simple’ and is derived from the Old Norse influences on Cumbrian dialect.
Dishes include a pan roasted fillet of seasonal fish with grilled garnish and truffle cream sauce, braised featherblade of beef, and elevated British classics such as beer-battered cod and chips, finished with an indulgent sticky toffee pudding.
With a Michelin Star, AA Rosette and and the title of The Times and The Sunday Times Foodie Hotel of the Year, chef patron Hrishikesh Desai and finance director Karen Baybutt have successfully established Farlam Hall, near Brampton, as a food and beverage-led destination since they took over a year ago.
A new kitchen team have been employed to run Bistro Enkel, which will be open for service from Sunday to Tuesday before the Michelin starred Cedar Tree by Hrishikesh Desai takes over the kitchen from Wednesday to Saturday.
