West Cumbrian pigeon fanciers will be racing on Sunday this week after studying the weekend weather forecasts.
They should have started the 2024 programme from Garstang on Saturday but have decided to put the race back 24 hours.
The Derwent Valley and West Cumberland Federations will be transported together but it will not be classed as an Amalgamation race – that starts at Appleton.
Neil Buchanan the race controller said this afternoon: “The weather forecast for Saturday is not favourable so race marking will be on Saturday for a Sunday race with normal basket and pick-up times.”
