Penrith manager Darren Edmondson was unable to see his side win 7-0 at Sunderland RA in their penultimate Northern League game.
After picking-up three yellow cards during the season Edmondson was the subject of a stadium ban – a seemingly harsh suspension above the normal touchline ban.
In his absence the Bonnyblues were under the guidance of Edmondson’s assistants Richard Prokas and Jordan Carrigan.
“I have watched a video of the game and we played really well which was good to see. Sunderland RCA might be bottom, and on their way to Diviosion Two, but that was their biggest defeat of the season.
“It was especially good to see our goals shared around and we look forward to finishing off on Saturday at home to North Shields.
“It has been a difficult season, particularly for how it started having to play all our games away, so to equal last season’s points is good. That’s what we were looking to achieve and we have done it with a game to spare,” said Edmondson.
Top scorer Luke Hunter had given Penrith a fifth minute lead and Lewis Moore added the second after 24 minutes.
The Cumbrians really took control in the second-half and there were goals from Connor Shields (55) and Luke Brown (57) to double their interval advantage.
Robbie Henson (75), Conor Hammell (80) and Shields (90 + 4) rounded-off the scoring.
