Workington Comets star Claus Vissing helped Glasgow Tigers to a 50-40 win over Berwick Bandits last night.
Vissing was brought in by the Tigers as a guest for Leon Flint and he top-scored with 13 points.
The Dane opened with four straight wins and when used in the final race of the night he took third, helping Glasgow to a 4-2 with Chris Harris winning the heat.
Vissing, the final piece of the Comets jigsaw when they were putting the team together, will be back with the Comets this afternoon when they race the Redcar Bears at Northside (3pm).
But there was bad news for Redcar last night as they suffered another home defeat when they lost 48-42 to Scunthorpe, which gave the Scorpions an aggregate win of 100-80.
To add to the bad news for the Bears, ex-Comet Charles Wright was withdrawn from the meeting with injury after a fall and exclusion. He had won his first race but when out a second time he appeared to have chain problems and crashed heavily.
Wright will miss today’s meeting with the Comets and the Bears have booked Justin Sedgeman as a guest but definitely back is former Comets number one Connor Bailey. He scored six for the Bears – with two wins and three lasts in a rather lop-sided scorecard.
The Scorpions included three former Comets in their line-up – Kyle Howarth 8 + 3; Simon Lambert 7 + 2 and last season’s teenage prospect Luke Harrison 4 + 1.
Current Comets reserve Sam McGurk was riding for Edinburgh Monarchs Acdemy and he scored 4 + 1 from a 45-44 home defeat to the Oxford Chargers in the National Development League.
He fell and was excluded in his first race but came back to claim two thirds and a second in his follow-up rides.
