Whitehaven were beaten 40-4 last night by Toulouse in their first – and longest – away trip of the season.
It made it three defeats in a row after a bright start to the campaign had brought wins over Swinton and Barrow.
But Toulouse found their form after a rather uninspiring start to the season and despite a battling performance from the Cumbrians the French side had just too much for them.
Ithad been 22-0 at half-time with Toulouse scoring four tries, three of them converted by Shorrock.
Whitehaven’s best moment came early in the second half when they moved then ball wide and Ben Evans went over in the corner, too wide out for Jake Carter to convert.
The Cumbrians kept in the contest until the last quarter when Toulouse scored three more tries which were all converted.
A small, but enthusiastic travelling group of Whitehaven fans gave their side plenty of encouragement and praise at the end of a touch contest.
