
Two teenagers have been arrested after a boy was assaulted in Carlisle.
Police are treating the incident, in the Raffles area of the city, as a racially-aggravated hate crime.
Officers received the report at 4.55pm yesterday April 24, of the assault in the area of Brookside which involved a group of boys.
Following the initial incident, a second was reported to have occurred shortly after.
The second incident took place in the Heysham park area involving the same group of youths and a man from Carlisle.
A teenager from Carlisle was arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated actual bodily harm and racially aggravated harassment with fear of violence.
A second teenager, from Preston, was arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated actual bodily harm.
Both have been released on bail while enquiries continue.
The victim suffered minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
Police said the were continuing to investigate, and a number of enquiries were ongoing.
There will be an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the local community and officers will also engage with community stakeholders they said.
