Two women have been arrested after Just Stop Oil protestors have targeted the offices of a West Cumbrian MP over plans for an offshore coal mine.
The campaigners arrived at around 7.30am today, Friday April 26, and have plastered Mark Jenkinson’s Maryport office with posters.
They also put up crime scene tape and held up signs saying ‘People vs Coal’.
Just Stop Oil said police were called after Mr Jenkinson, who represents Workington, arrived at around 8.15am.
Cumbria police said: “Police were contacted at 8.10am today to the report of a protest on Senhouse Street.
“Officers attended and are investigating following reports of damage having been caused to a window by an adhesive.
“A woman in her 40s and a woman in her 60s have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.”
Mr Jenkinson thanked police for their prompt action.
