Cleator Moor suffered a 5-1 defeat at Poulton in the West Lancashire League Premier Division.
Manager Stuart Shaw was massively disappointed by the result and the performance after what had looked a promising 20/25 minutes at the start.
They had played some good football, creating chances through the impressive Jack Burns but it just didn’t happen for them in the final third of the pitch.
Shaw said: “Football isn’t just all about what you do with the ball it’s what you do without the ball that I feel wins you football matches especially in this league and yesterday we didn’t do any of that.
“Urgency to get tighter to the opposition, tracking runners or communication between your own team-mates, picking up the second balls just everything that I expect didn’t happen.
“A Rhys Little equaliser with a brilliant finish saw us get our tails up and then a costly couple of individual mistakes led to us going in at half time 3-1 down, one of them through conceding a penalty just before half time.
“In the second half we knew we had to get the next goal to even stand a chance of getting something from the game but I don’t think their goalkeeper made a save and that speaks volumes of where we are going forward.
“Conceding another penalty in the second half and another sloppy goal defensively just saw Poulton run away 5-1 winners on the day which they fully deserved.
“There were positives to take away from the game especially Jack Burns’ performance and the introduction of 16-year-old Luca Ibbs for his debut for the first team with 15 minutes to go. His contribution was fantastic, and to see him and another youngster in Flynn Purdham doing really well when coming on was very pleasing.”
Celtic now have two successive away games in three days – at Turton on Saturday and Coppul Utd on Monday.
