West Cumbrian bodybuilder Alan Moore has his sights set on a world title – two years after he quit.
Now 75, Alan has been invited to take part in a world event being held in Munich in September.
He won an over -70s competition in Burnley at the weekend and was invited to enter a competition in Malaga in June, but declined.
Instead he plans to train for the Munich event when he will be up against body builders from across Europe in an over 70s section.
He said: “That wouldn’t have been the case in Malaga so I am just going there to support Jamie Graham from Seaton who won in Burnley and is going there in June. He’s an ex-Marine and has a fabulous physique.
“I think this will be my swansong because I will be 76 before the event in Munich but it would be nice to go out on a high with a world title,” he says.
Alan, who now lives in Cockermouth, sold his Workington gym Interim two years ago and stopped competing then – but continued to train.
“I still train, just the same as I always have, around four sessions per week, which is why I was ready to compete at the weekend. I really thought I was in the best condition I had been in for 30 years.

“I started training when I was 21 and it would be about five years later that I started competing. I won a few Mr Cumbria contests then senior Cumbria over-35s and senior Britain at 42.
“I stopped competing until I was nearly 70 and won the Over-70s Mr World in Rome in 2019. It would be nice to win the Over-70s section in Munich in September.
“I will be 76 then and I will probably consider retirement, although I hope that I will be able to continue training,” he said.
