Kendal Town just missed out on a memorable double of having the top goal-scorer in the NW Counties Premier Division.
Last season Tom Kilifin led the way in the division with 33 goals and this time James Bailey has finished second with 30.
Lucas Weaver of Colne was the leading scorer in the Premier Division with 34 goals.
Kendal’s Matt Dudley was also in the top 10 with 22 goals although only ten were for the Mintcakes, the first 12 had been scored for Ramsbottom.
Bailey was in his first season at that level having stepped up from the Furness League, and with interest from other clubs he was given a contract earlier in the season.
Kendal were so close to the play-offs this season, thinking they were in them until a remarkable effort by Charnock Richard, playing and winning four games in six days playing catch-up, snatched them a play-off berth.
In the end they lost 1-0 at Bury, who in turn were beaten in the final on Saturday, losing to Wythenshawe Town on penalties.
It completes a remarkable double for the town in Greater Manchester as both its football clubs have won promotion to the NPL West Division.
