Parkside lifted the Sunday County Cup with a 5-3 win over Northside at Borough Park.

The two top teams in the new West Cumberland Sunday League, have already had some memorable clashes on the domestic scene, and this was a final which didn’t disappoint.

To the neutral it was an entertaining contest with some tidy football on show and some thrilling goals.

Above all it was an excellent advert for the West Cumberland Sunday League which was only formed for this season.

Ben McCarron had opened the scoring for Parkside and the young winger went on to earn the man of the match award.

At 1-0 Parkside had a great opportunity to double their lead but Tom Mahone put his spot kick over the bar.

That allowed Northside to come back and equalise through Harry Watson but two goals just before half-time from Adam Smith and Jay Weatherill put Parkside in control at the break.

Northside got themselves back into the contest early in the second half through Tony Berwick but the Cleator Moor side added two quick goals from Weatherill and Reuben Butterworth to take a grip on the contest.

Jamie Bramley was able to pull one back from the penalty spot for Northside but it was a case of too little too late for the Workington side.
