
Keswick finally leapfrogged Cockermouth into top spot in the Cumberland County League Division One after a 5-0 win against Whitehaven Miners Social Development.
Jamie Little and Richard Bannister both helped themselves to a brace each with the other goal being provided by Bradley Fearns.
It means that Keswick are a point ahead of their West Cumbrian rivals Cockermouth as both teams meet on Saturday for their last matches of the season and title decider.
Also in mid-week Whitehaven Miners Social and Aspatria met in the final Ken Glover Memorial Cup group fixture of the season and it was Miners who won the tie 4-2.
Goals from Alex Parr, Dan Hill, Ryan Doran and Bradley O’Pray with a penalty, confirmed Miners qualification into the semi-final.
Despite the defeat, Aspatria are also into the semi-final after a brace from Andrew Trestianu provided their goals. The semi-finals will take place on Saturday with Whitehaven Miners Social hosting Aspatria and Unisun Athletic take on Maryport Athletic.
There was the first of the Divisional Cup semi finals on Thursday evening as Windscale Reserves welcomed Dearham United.
Goals from Lewis Selkirk, Owen Bell and Harvey Stainton helped Windscale to a 3-0 win and a place in the final against either Cockermouth or Keswick.
