Workington Town prop forward Grant Reid returned to his first love this week and did so with a bang!
Reid was back playing cricket in the West Cumbria Midweek League for Workington against Cockermouth as he returned temporarily to the game in which he first shone.
Now a solid front row forward for Town in League One, Reid has also a century to his name in the Cumbria League but there are batting restrictions having to retire at 30 and a scoring shot.
It looked as though he was not going to hang about as he struck the first ball of the innings for six – hitting a parked car on the boundary edge.
He went on to hit four sixes and a four on a short stay at the wicket, retiring on 35 and with skipper Liam Irving matching that score ;lower down the order Workington were well on their way to a substantial 20 overs total.

Adam Hodgson (22) and Owen Thompson (20) chipped-in as well and Workington finished on 157-7. Matthew Holliday (2-8), Rob Hobb (2-8) and Karim Gardiner (2-14) turned in respectable bowling figures for Cockermouth.
The visitors made a good fist of their reply to such an imposing target and there were plenty of runs at the top of the order from Silas Hesslewood (33ret), Holliday (32ret), Joe Blacklock (31ret) and Regan Tinnion (24).
In the end after a spirited run chase they need 15 off the final over. Step forward a certain Town prop to bowl the last over of the game and with his first ball he clean bowled Matt Johnson.
He was only the second Cockermouth batsman to be dismissed and after it was all over they had fallen 10 runs short on 147-2. Reid, who bowled two overs, finished with 1-20 and the other Cockermouth wicket to fall was from a run-out.
