Workington Town don’t play at home again until June 2 – but it promises to be a special day at the Fibrus Community Stadium.

Thanks to one of the club’s sponsors, Northern Competitions, the club has offered 500 tickets for sale at just £5 to watch the League One game against Hunslet.

It isn’t just the game for the club has a number of other things planned for the day, including live music.

A spokesman said: “Kind-hearted Ryan from Northern Competitions met with us and wants to make our next home game versus Hunslet affordable for all.

“He had such a good day when we played Cornwall he’s helping to subsidise the reduced admission cost as we aim to pack the Fibrus Community Stadium and help more people enjoy matchday.”

The first 500 applications for tickets will get them at £5, and also go into a draw for £500 to be made on the day.

It’s also what Town have called ‘take-over day’ when a local amateur club shows off their talent and what they are all about through their many age group sides. On June 2 it’s the turn of Maryport to take over at the Fibrus Community Stadium.
