Extra police patrols were out in Carlisle after reports of a man with a firearm.
Cumbria police said reports began circulating yesterday, May 12, that a man was seen in the area of Raffles.
A statement said: “We would like to reassure people that there is no threat to the public.
“Officers became aware of concerns in the community and on social media and area searches were immediately carried out, alongside other urgent investigations.
“Enquiries have found no evidence of any threat.
“People may notice a higher than normal police presence in the area as officers remain on patrol to offer reassurance.”
