Sunday County champions Parkside are chasing more silverware after reaching the final of the West Cumberland Sunday League’s Tier One Cup.

They beat FC Cosmos 6-0 with goals from Ryan Maguire (2), Darren Little, Ben McCarron, Andrew Bulman and Gareth Evans.

Their opponents will be decided tonight when new league champions Northside play Moresby Rangers, in what will be something of a revenge match for the Workington side.

Last week they were mauled 8-2 by the Rangers in their final league fixture, which had been their fourth game in seven days.

That was a dead rubber but tonight’s clash has a cup final place at stake.

Northside manager Jamie Moore, who had guided his team to a hard-earned title in a competitive League, said: “We were presented with the League trophy that night so it was a bit of a flat occasion after that defeat. The lads feel a bit down about it.”

They should have played on Sunday but the council had not marked out their field so the game was postponed until tonight.

There should have been a Tier Two League Cup semi-final at Dearham between Sun Inn and Thornhill but the Egremont side didn’t show.

It means that Sun Inn will go through to the final at Borough Park this Sunday against Bluebell (ko 10.30am).
