Edinburgh, who visit Workington this weekend, have been forced into two changes for their Cab Direct Championship opener against Plymouth at Armadale tonight.
Norwegian racer Lasse Fredriksen has been unable to travel due to illness, whilst 16-year-old reserve Max James is required to take an exam.
The Monarchs have called up Sam Hagon to guest for Fredriksen whilst Dayle Wood steps up from their NDL team to replace James.
The Edinburgh management have not said what their team arrangements will be for the trip to West Cumbria, although James is expected to be back.
Meanwhile the Gladiators track former Edinburgh rider Jacob Hook at reserve in the first meeting of a two-day Northern tour.
Monarchs manager Alex Harkess said: “We will not be taking Plymouth lightly. They will have good quality reserves, probably as good as anybody’s got.
“But it is a home match for us and we have to do what we do, and start the league properly. If everyone contributes, then we will.”
Workington, meanwhile, will be unchanged and looking to bounce back after Wednesday’s mauling at Poole.
