Iconic Lake District firm Herdy is getting ready to open its fifth store this weekend.
It will open its doors in Ambleside on Saturday.
Founded 17 years ago, Herdy has grown from strength to strength, carving out a unique niche with its gifts and homeware inspired by the region’s cute and lovable Herdwick sheep.
Co-founder Diane Hannah said: “Ambleside has always been a special place for us. It’s a town that embodies the spirit of the Lake District with its stunning scenery, rich history, and welcoming local community.
“Opening our fifth store here feels like a natural next step for Herdy.”
The new store offers a larger showcase for the company’s Herdysleep brand.

Herdysleep offers a selection of award-winning, sustainable mattresses made with locally sourced Herdwick wool, bought at fairly traded rates from farmers in the heart of the Lakes, along with a range of premium wool bedding using 100% British wool.
Both are handmade in Britain and combine traditional materials with modern comfort.
Diane added: “The inclusion of Herdysleep in our new store allows us to highlight the versatility and quality of Herdwick wool. It’s a natural, sustainable material that offers excellent comfort and durability, making it the perfect material for our award-winning mattresses. We’re excited to share this with our customers and provide them with products they can feel good about.”

Herdy has ensured local businesses have also benefited from the new store build, it said. Diane added: “We’ve used 100% local tradespeople to help us deliver our vision for the new Herdy store and the quality they’ve achieved with the fit out is extremely high and testament to their skills.”
Herdy’s official opening takes place on Saturday and will feature Heidi and Henrietta Herdwick, courtesy of the Bread & Butter Theatre Company. There will be competitions, prizes and giveaways, Diane added.
