The Misfitz at Workington’s Battle of the Bands

Maryport’s La’al Fest returns this weekend and organisers promise a day of great live music.

The festival has been held in the town in various formats since 2011 and this year, will be held in a marquee outside Maryport Rugby League clubhouse.

There will be seven acts performing on the day and then it will be into the clubhouse to finish off the day with local DJ Grant Bethwaite.

Performing in the marquee will be tribute band The Liam Gallagher Experience, celebrating 30 years since Oasis’ debut album Definitely Maybe.

No doubt about it that Taylor Swift is the hottest ticket around, and  with her unable to get Maryport into her hectic schedule, La’al Fest-goers will enjoy a tribute act instead.

There are also tribute acts to Pink and Gerry Cinnamon in what is expected to be a magical mystery tour of sounds.

Local bands strutting their stuff are in the shape of The Misfitz, The Window View and Ben Akehurst.

Organisers are limiting ticket sales to 400 and they have been selling fast. Advance tickets can be bought for £10, while it will be £15 on the day provided there are any left.

The event is sponsored by Maryport Town Council and Northern Competitions and all money raised goes to the youth section of Maryport amateur rugby league club.
