A milk vending machine will open at a Cumbrian farmhouse dairy this week.

The vending station, which will also offer milkshakes and cheese, will be unveiled on Friday at Torpenhow Farm House Dairy, near Wigton.

The launch will be marked by a visit from the Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, Alexander Scott, who will attend to present The King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development to First Milk; the farmer-owned dairy co-operative behind Golden Hooves.

Torpenhow’s Jenny and Mark Lee will become the latest farmers to join Golden Hooves’ regen revolution, which dares people to think differently about dairy.

At Torpenhow’s new vending space, visitors will be able to buy the farm’s milk directly from the self-service machines, which is regeneratively farmed, organic and 100% grass fed, as part of the Lees’ Pasture for Life commitment.

The milk will also supply a milkshake vending machine, with a range of clean syrups available to choose from, while another machine will be stocked with Torpenhow’s full range of hard, soft and blue cheeses, as well as Golden Hooves’ award-winning cheeses.

Mark said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our regenerative and organic 100% pasture fed milk for sale at our farm gate.

“It is really important to us that as much of our milk as possible is bought and consumed locally. Anyone coming to the Golden Hooves vending machine will be able to see the cows rotationally grazing around the fields for 300 days of the year.

“The Jersey Friesian milk is really rich and creamy and packed full of omega 3s and phytonutrients.

“We hope it becomes a hub for people looking for nutritious healthy products like our cheese, eggs and other organic products.

“We will have seasonal bacon and sausages from our pigs, honey from our bees and a freezer full of indulgent Three Hills Cumbrian gelato, which is also made right here at Park House.”

Leona McDonald, director of Golden Hooves, commented: “We’re so excited to be launching our latest Golden Hooves vending site at Torpenhow Farmhouse Dairy.

“We have been blown away by Jenny and Mark’s vision, drive and commitment to regenerating the earth, so this selection of milk, cheese and more definitely gets our stomp of approval!”
