Cumbia women have acquired a top sponsorship deal ahead of their big deciding game in the Gill Burns Championship on Sunday.
The trip to Essex for the final group game has severely restricted the budget through the cost of transport and an overnight stay.
It meant a large amount of fundraising to be done by the section and the county, to ensure the women were able to play in the fixture and continue to develop the future of the Women’s County Championship.
In addition Halbro Sportswear and Kendal Calling have donated and sponsored new shirts for the team which were handed over by the Cumbria Women’s president, Arthur Perie to team captain Philippa Chadwick.
For Halbro Sportswear, Nigel Beaty said: “As we are heavily involved in woman and girls rugby, and from Cumbria, we were pleased to be able to support the county.”

Kendal Calling is providing financial support to the women’s team who will be looking to make progress in the competition with a win at Harlow against Essex.
In the Gill Burns County Championship, Cumbria are in Division Three, Pool 1 and effectively the meeting in Harlow is a shoot-out as both teams have beaten Oxfordshire and Staffordshire.
It’s a similar situation in Division Three, Pool 2 where Devon will host Sussex on Sunday after both have won their games against Dorset and Wilts, and Middlesex.
