Westmorland Orchestra returns to Kendal’s Parish Church next month and joins forces with local organist Andy Plowman.
The concert, on June 15, will see them play the instantly recognisable Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony.
This magnificent piece of music has been adapted and used many times – including in the 1977 hit If I Had Words and in the film Babe: Pig in the City.
With the Willis organ at one end of the church and the orchestra at the other it promises to be a real treat for the audience, say organisers.
Andy will show off the organ’s sound and his mastery of the instrument with a piece by Widor; the orchestra will also be performing Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde Prelude and Liebestod and four sparkling Norwegian Dances by Edvard Grieg.
Tickets are free for young people and students, £15 for others, available online and on the door.
The concert is at 7.30pm on Saturday June 15.
