Whitehaven head coach Jonty Gorley has named a squad of 19 for Sunday’s Championship game at Doncaster.
Jake Maizen, recent hat-trick star who had to miss out last week is back in the firing line.
There’s a debut, too, in prospect for the Huddersfield Giants back row forward Luca Atkinson who joined Haven on loan this week.
Doncaster coach Richard Horne is looking for a reaction from his side after they were second best to Halifax last week
Horne said: “Whitehaven will be another big challenge for us and we need a response from the boys. We will need to match Whitehaven in certain areas, they’re a big powerful side but we know that when we get our game plan right we can cause them problems.”
Like Haven, the Dons will have a new loanee in the squad after announcing that Nathan Wilde had joined on a two-week loan from Leigh Leopards.
Horne said, “Nathan had a promising spell at Leigh last season in the Super League before his injury. He’s feeling fit and ready to make an impact for us in the middle this weekend when called upon.”
Greg Burns and Brett Ferres also return to the squad and remarkably this Sunday’s Betfred Championship clash will be the last on home soil for the Dons until the end of July.
The Whitehaven squad is: Ross Ainley, Luca Atkinson, Jake Carter, Lucas Castle, Rio Corkill, Jamie Doran, Oscar Doran, Edene Gebbie, Guy Graham, Lachlan Hanneghan, Connor Holliday, Ryan King, Jake Maizen, Owen McCarron, James Newton, Joey Romeo, Perry Singleton, Curtis Teare, Huw Worthington.
The Doncaster squad is: Brad Hey, Luke Briscoe, Ben Johnston, Connor Robinson, Keelan Foster, Greg Burns, Alex Sutcliffe, Loui McConnell, Joe Lovodua, Pauli Pauli, Josh Guzdek, Jose Kenga, Craig Hall, Brad Knowles, Misi Taulapapa, Jason Tali, Watson Boas, Ilikaya Mafi, Brett Ferres, Bureta Faraimo, Nathan Wilde.
